As a part of ICIMOD’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the third exhibition of Himalaya – Changing Landscapes was held from 2-8 December 2008 at Hanuman Dhoka, Kathmandu Durbar Square. The exhibition was organised by ICIMOD, promoted by the Nepal Tourism Board and Ms Hisila Yami, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Nepal kindly inaugurated the exhibition in the presence of various dignitaries, both local and international.

The exhibition was successful in drawing attention among visitors towards the impact of climate change in the fragile environment of the Himalayas. The exhibition also emphasised the resilience of the mountain people in coping with these changes. The week long exhibition was admired by Kathmandu locals and visitors alike.

The photo panels exhibited in Kathmandu Durbar Square are now on permanent display at the International Mountain Museum in Pokhara, following an agreement between ICIMOD and the Nepal Mountaineering Association. The Mountain Museum has become a popular destination in Pokhara with more than 100,000 visitors in 2008.
